﹤ Back to Class Photos Main

Although the U-M Dental Hygiene program graduated their first students in 1923, the practice of photographing graduating seniors for a class photograph was intermittent until the 1940s.  In the earliest years of this series, students were posed as a group and student names were not included in the image. This style of photography was used for the Hygiene class photos up to 1955.

A composite style photo, in which individual portraits were attached to one board to create one overall image, has been used from 1956 to the present.

Most of the composite photographs have student names included with each individual portrait.

Years missing: 1922-1933; 1935-1941; 1943-1946; 1971, and 1979.

At this time, a name/year index is not available. In the meantime, if you need to learn when a Dental Hygiene student graduated, you may ask a Bentley Archivist. This information will assist you with locating which class photo to search.

Please fill out one of our Donation Forms if you have a class photo from one of our missing years to donate or lend for copying purposes.
